In planning our event, we had many ideas about which would be the best within our capabilities, resources, and time constraints. One of our first ideas was The “Dance Marathon” and this was based off of previous colleges. This is an event in which participants stay on their feet for a certain amount of time to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The mission statement is “We dance for those who can’t”. The idea is that people can learn dance moves and pay to participate within a certain length of time. For example, a participant can pay 10$ to dance for an hour and during that time, they can learn a new dance and participate in later activities.
Within this event were many strengths that were discussed and those were that the event was cost efficient, funds would go to a beneficial cause, and would be best within our capabilities/resources. This event wouldn’t be too expensive due to it being at our school, which eliminates the need of renting a venue. However, we would need to provide refreshments, decorate accordingly, and set up a couple of activities and since the event is non-profit, that money would subtract from our account. This is a highly publicized event that has been carried out in many schools nationwide. As this event is done in numerous schools/colleges, we would be able to get the external support since it has been done many times. It’s all based on raising money for the Children’s Miracle foundation and it would be an incredible opportunity to be able to participate in a beneficial event.
