I am fortunate enough to have a unique relationship with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, both in and out of the Miss America Organization. Not only am I able to contribute to the Miss America Organization’s national philanthropic cause through my participation in fundraising, IHOP’s National Pancake Day, Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day, and promoting awareness through my ‘miracle maker’s band,’ but I am also privileged enough to have been actively involved within Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. I am a currently a Master of Science in Child Life Student at the College of Charleston, a program in conjunction with the Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, a proud Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. I have been able to inform the community of alopecia areata through the use of my official Facebook page, as well as provide support to those suffering from the effects of alopecia areata or the loss of confidence through confidential messages and emails. My community has been impacted and has benefited from this platform through the education and support, both publically and privately, which I provide. Since this platform is so new, there are no long-term results as of now; however, I hope that in the coming years that this platform continues to develop and has the ability to help more people understand alopecia and become more confident. It is extremely likely that my platform will continue on, even after I am no longer eligible to compete in the Miss America Organization. The next goal in working to expand my platform is to transition it into a non-profit organization so that I can continue working to inspire confidence and educate the Nation on alopecia areata. Others have been able to just barely touch the surface of these topics; however, these are important social issues that I will never stop fighting
