People from ethnic minorities and religious groups are significantly less likely than average to be at work, and when in work are paid significantly less than average. American have not lived up to the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independance.

Throughout America’s history, groups have dealt with a large amount of deprivation of rights. For example, in the 1920s, black men and women were recognized for their music, literature, dance, and clothing. Although they were recognized, they were still segregated during the revolution. Also, from 1963 to 1973, America fought the Vietnam war. Although America had the right to fight, they also weren’t the ones who chose to fight in Vietnam. The Black Lives Matter campaign fights over African American equality in the the area of police arrests. This campaign states that the level of African Americans arrested and in some cases shot, is significantly higher than white levels. This campaign can also become violent though, In August of 2016, the campaign targeted white families and burned their houses and cars in the area of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Additionally, North Carolina government passed a law against transgender citizens. The law stated that transgender people are to use the bathroom of the gender they were born with, not the gender they identify as.

In conclusion, Declaration of Independence ideals have not been lived up to. The ideals of equality and rights have not been lived up to in past america and present america. Events such as the civil rights protest, child labor, the segregation of African Americans in the 1920s, the right to fight the vietnam war, and the current issues of Black Lives Matter and transgender gender rights are negative examples of the Declaration of Independance’s ideals of equality and
