In a person’s childhood, most of their major decisions that they are faced with in life are made by their parents or guardians. Parents make the decisions for them because they want the best for their children, and want them to have a good chance to survive in the real world when they reach adulthood. After childhood however, they must make decisions for themselves, which will eventually lead them towards their dreams or the life their parents were afraid of. One day he and his friend decided to put the names up on a wall with spray paint, like they had several times before. This time was different because they were caught doing the act by the police. After the policeman cuffed Wes he soon realized what was about to happen, he thought about “The possibility of losing all control in my life was like a depthless black chasm that had suddenly opened up in front of me.” (Moore83-84). He soon realized that his life was about to be ripped out right in front of his face, all because of some petty decision that he had made that night. The officer was kind to the two boys and let them off with a warning, trying to scare them into changed their ways. Although, most of the decisions they made for me I didn’t agree with, They led me to be able to make a good decision on my own, and that was going to college. After making this decision for myself, I started to get more and more confident in myself. I then started to make other important decisions by myself too, like deciding to go to Ohio State University at Marion. So yes, I feel as if I am very prepared to start making decisions for myself at college because of the great examples my parents have made in my life, and by the decisions I have made so far. Some of the resources in college that I would use would be like a study group, clubs, councilors, and classmates. Most children don’t get a say in the important life decisions they face because parents don’t want them to make the wrong ones.
