Sometimes, our life can be lousy, or even horrible. I don't think that there is a person in this world who has had a perfect life with no downs. Vail, the main character in “After the Cure” by Carrie Ryan had a great life up until she got infected. 2 years before the story starts, she was turned into a monster and lived that way for 2 years. Killing people and infecting them to kill other people. When she was cured, the society is so split, unjust, and unfair that she wishes she was dead. She was on one of the downs of her life. She even leaves other monsters to die thinking that they would have shared the same opinions about wanting to live or die. She makes one friend, a boy named James who makes her feel better. Is the only reminder of happiness that she refuses to let back into her life until the end. We must remember that in all lives, there will be ups and downs, no matter what we do. We must stay positive throughout and try to remember that things can always get better So I believe that Carrie Ryan uses tone, inner thinking, and first person view to create mood and create a theme that life will have ups and downs. Just like everyone has a unique way of talking, this story is written with a distinct tone as well. But it helps create the mood and ultimately the theme. This story is written with a distinct tone. In this essay, I focus on her tone, her use of inner thinking and her choice of first person view to create a certain sad mood and a great theme, that life will have ups and downs. This theme is very important to all of our lives. No matter where or how you live, your life will have ups and downs. We must always focus on the ups to make our life seem better, and eventually, if we take action, it will. Carrie Ryan is showing a big life lesson in this story. Maybe on an extreme scale, but it shows the theme all the better. Let take this into our lives to better
