Every culture, community, or ethnic group has its own beliefs, values, and notions on how to live their way of life. In today’s society, it is crucially important to understand, accept, and respect other people’s traditions and histories. Most especially, we live in such a diverse community. Each Ethnic group somehow relies on what is commonly practiced within their society in order to maintain a strong community, preserve its moral and spiritual values, but that is not case with some immigrants when it comes to American Sports. For example, in “The Case Against High-School Sports,” Ripley Amanda of The Atlantic states that sports in American are so famous and it could be quite overpowering where it becomes so challenging with students especially those who are in high school. The United States of America is a diverse country where every immigrant is entitled to vision their own respective dreams before arriving here. Jenny is just like many immigrants that have great vision about the USA, but when she arrived here, there are a lot of new things that could be quite overwhelming, most specially sports. Being a student, learning the American sports, the language and adjusting to a new place is hard to process. Additionally, being exposed to academic and school issues is more overbearing for immigrants like her because she came from another country where sports and academics are well-balanced. I am an immigrant myself, I had a dream that I will be able to live here successfully, but I realized that living here has been also full of challenges just like any other countries. However, I learned to appreciate every small accomplishment that I had because it made me become who I am today, a stronger and a very optimistic person.
