The Age of Exploration was a time of trade and the New World. Although there was trouble the exploration had an impact on the Native Americans, Africans, and the European expansion. New technology and weapons, the Middle Passage and The Columbian Exchange were three major developments that took place. The Age Exploration positively impacted the lives of the people in the colonies. New technology and weapons were all things that made the exploration possible.
This does not justify how they are considered the worst of the colonizing empires because they happen to have more things said about how they treated the Natives. They set up missions spreading their beliefs in the Christian religion and yet somehow became known for using un-Christian methods. Also they gave Natives the encomiedas system which limited their rights by a bit yet when it came down to it the English did the exact same thing but they worded it just a bit differently. Lastly the whole belief that the English and French came to the New world to help the Natives who they saw as meek and gentle while in reality they were only after more money. Spanish lives were negatively influenced by the Black Legend and made to think that they did something so horrible while in reality they were just bits a pieces of things that they really did that were bad.
The Age of Exploration time period was not in the Native Americans’ favor. The Native Americans were conquered, and it brought many new diseases and ideas. This caused a significant decline in their population. The Age of Exploration created suffering for Native Americans because of conquests, disease, and refusal to convert to Catholicism. Conquests were a main reason for the suffering of Native Americans.

Yet, modern times never focus on what problems the Europeans caused in their process to discover new land. They killed people, used many people as slaves, and spreaded many diseases all in search of new land and wealth. They destroyed the peace that maintained before they arrived to the land they explored. They tore apart many civilizations in order to build their own on top of it. I believe that sickness and disease greatly affected the Spanish, and their quest for the New World. However it was not purely bad nor good for them, because it helped them lay siege to cities but also killed many spanish. Some of the changes of culture that were made because of it was the fact that the Spanish were now disliked because of the diseases that they had brought with them to the New World. Some of the example of the disease helping the Spanish was how when Hernan Cortes lay siege to Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital, he originally fled because of their numbers, but attacked again when there was an outbreak of smallpox and he had more siege weapons.
The Old world and New world developed differently and had distinctly different cultures. These different worlds decided to trade and interact through what is known as the Columbian Exchange.
