The Decade of Exploration: The 1960’s Mystery creates wonder and wonder os the basis of man's desire to understand. (www.brainyquote.com) The 1960s was a time of suspicion and presentiment, and also at the same time a decade of anticipation and assurance as Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream Speech”. Furthermore in the 1960s, Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon. Additionally ARPANet revolutionized America, and showed the way for other networking systems, and made great advancements in communication across the globe.
Neil Armstrong was a pioneer of exploration a teacher and an astronaut. He was born August 5, 1930 and died at the age of 82 August 25th 2015. ARPANet was created in August 30th 1969 and was decommissioned in February 29th 1990. ARPANet was short-lived but it was a pioneer for other networking systems such as Millnet and Telenet. When ARPANet was first created it connected four computers in four universitoies and then later expanded to 213 computers across the globe. In addition when the network was first made the first transmission sent was a ¨lo¨ attempting to type login but the system crashed. The system was soon after rebooted and there was a successful login. The main reason ARPANet was created was so the United States could pull ahead in the space race and the United States wanted to protect itself from threats. The threats the U.S. was talking about was a nuclear attack for the Soviet Union. However, very few people had access to ARPANet and the general public never knew about ARPANet from 1969 to 1977.
