Aileen Wuornos lived a tragic life filled with many series of shortcomings and misfortune. Aileen Wuornos' life was anything but normal, and this is why her life of crime is no surprise. A child of early-age prostitution, awful parenting, uncaring guardians, stress, and a deceased sibling, Aileen never had a fair chance at life. However, using sociological theories can help explain why Aileen ended up living a life of crime. According to the biological theory, Borderline personality is a mental disorder that Aileen Wuornos was suffering from. According to the Psych Central Staff, symptoms such as impulsivity, emotional instability, and unstable relationships, are what people exhibit when suffering from Borderline personality (Borderline Personality Disorder Symptoms). Aileen began to having unstable relationships with boys at a young age. Her first relationship happened to be with her brother, and they could be seen arguing all the time. However, they don’t all do a good job on determining if Aileen is innocent or guilty. It could be said that those 7 men deserved death for praying upon desperate women in need of money. These 7 men were committing an illegal act, and they would have gotten away with it had not killed them. Those seven men were responsible for their owns deaths because they welcomed such an outcome by living that type of lifestyle. Abiding by this, Aileen would be considered the victim of prostitution. However, the act killing others just to preserve your relationship with your partner out of self interest, makes Aileen the rational offender. She knew what she was doing, she killed for her special bond. Unfortunately, the nature of Aileen's case makes it impossible for me to determine whether she was a victim or offender.
