Brave new world (speech) “People will come to love their oppression, to adore technologies that undo their capacities to think.” Written in 1932 by Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World. Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t want you to think of this as a vague literary quote, but a warning of what is happening right now in the 21 st century. Technology is literally in our pockets, our homes, our cars, it is now a ubiquitous part of our daily lives. In this “Utopian Society” the Bokanovsky’s process is a means to eradicate a person’s freedom of choice. Creating human beings becomes a highly ordered process thanks to the Bokanovsky process. The hatchery creates a caste system, each with its own societal and intelligence rank. From this process the World State achieves their motto: Community, Identity and Stability. Community is achieved through Fordism, a religion that encourages people to reach solidarity through sexual orgies so that a person can never feel alone. Identity is achieved through the caste systems making everyone happy to be an Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta or Epsilon. In fact, in the lower three classes, people are cloned to produce 96 identical twins so identity is assured. Then stability is maintained by minimising conflict, risk and change through making genetically identical individuals because people who are exactly the same are less likely to come into conflict with each other. Stability comes from people being content with their lives. Community, identity and stability of their world gives them freedom but to a certain extent.
