Alexander Forrest was a explorer, politician and investor, was born on 22 September 1849 at Picton, near Bunbury, Western Australia. His older brother was John Forrest. After education at Bishop Mathew Hale 's School in 1863 through 1865, he worked at his father 's mill until in 1868 he advertised himself as a surveyor. By 1870 he was experienced enough to serve as second-in-command of John 's first transcontinental expedition, along the edge of the Great Australian Bright. On January 1, 1871 he was appointed to the Survey Department as surveyor-in-charge of the Albany district but he became an independent licensed surveyor working by contract for the department.
Alexander of Macedonia inherited the throne when he was only 20 years old. His father, Philip of Macedonia built the Macedonian army into a deadly machine. When Alexander was on the throne, he set out to conquer Persia, which was at that time, the most powerful kingdom. Kozol’s writing style leaves a great deal of interpretation to the reader. With that said I noticed a trend throughout the book. Kozol mentioned at least one or two of the three main factors for each child. The two main factors or policies that shaped these children’s lives were: housing, and education. In regards to education I see that these policies were more selective for these children.
Ruby Bridges Biography Ruby Bridges was the first African-American child to attend and integrate an all-white public school. She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, on September 8th, 1954. Ruby Bridges’ mother was Lucille Bridges and her father was Abon Bridges. She also had four other siblings, three brothers and a sister. According to biography.com, Ruby Bridges had lived on a farm in Mississippi where her parents and grandparents sharecropped, but when Bridges was just four years old, Ruby and her parents had moved to New Orleans in sight for a better life.
In these five works youth is seen in a different light; a light that is not always innocent. Through personal experiences, we are molded to how we see the world. The experiences in our youth are therefore even more important as they are the foundation of our perspective. For example, growing up wealthy is different than growing up in poverty. This shows that youth is complex and has many sides to it.
Although Alexander’s forces were limited in terms of numbers, Alexander was able to command the approach with a definitive plan. There are usually multiple ways to approach and conquer challenges; this example proves that the most popular choice is not always the most effective. Even though Alexander had limited resources, the plan chosen by Alexander was meticulous and resourceful. Alexander used the troops under his command in an astute fashion to defeat a large and formidable opponent. Darius went into the skirmish with the belief that the size of his forces and the terrain would provide a clear advantage over the smaller forces of the opponent.
In 334, Alexander embarked on his Asiatic expedition, arriving in Troy that spring. Alexander then faced Persian King Darius III 's army near the Grancius River; Darius ' forces were swiftly defeated. By fall, Alexander and his army had made it across the southern coast of Asia Minor to Gordium, where they took the winter to rest. In the summer of 333, the troops of Alexander and Darius once again went head to head in battle at Issus. Although Alexander 's army was outnumbered, he used his flair for military strategy to create formations that defeated the Persians again and caused Darius to flee.
A very insightful perspective on Alexander’s triumph in the skirmish. It is true that morale plays a large role in the success of any organization and the examination of this skirmish shows that it is no different. Alexander was able to command the forces and conduct the advance in such a manner to ensure a defeat. Under the personal guidance of Alexander, the troops gained the benefits of the leader’s forethought and consolidation of resources. The structure provided by Alexander would prove to build a unity among the troops.
Alexander the Great served as king of Macedonia from 336 to 323 B.C. During his time of leadership, he has done many things to show that he deserved the leadership. He took over big parts of land and united them together. His military tactics were sharp since he was intelligent, and he used the phalanx formation during wars, which was an astounding. Even through all of the things he has done, he should not be considered the Great.

Both Wes Moore and Mah’Ria’s showcase the importance a proper education in destroying racial oppression.

In The First Day by Edward P.Jones and Harper Collins story, the first day the authors are going into detail about little life change. Jones describes the lifestyle of how it is growing up and not being able to interact or get out much to see other people then when one gets the chance to come out of their box, it is somewhat of a cultural shock. The life of growing up that Jones presents somewhat makes it feel like growing up with an uneducated mother could make things somewhat complicated. Jones also mentions one school more than the other. This makes it seem as though one school is better than the other one, possibly because of the location or because of the race at the school.

My educational journey has been an experience I will remember. I have attended school in three different countries, Antigua, St. Thomas, and New York. A diverse educational experience has allowed me to interact with many different cultures and confront many of the different topics we discussed in class. At that time however, I was not fully aware of the implications of certain situation but after many readings I can now fully understand many of the experiences I encountered in my journey. All the information I have learned in this class however will bring all my experience together where I can make much more sense of it than I could when I was younger.
