Alexander the great is a hero because he was a strong military leader and he treated everybody with respect.
Alexander the great was a hero because he was a strong military leader. If a military group/troop did not have a strong military leader then they wouldn't do as well as they possibly could. According to Alexander the not-so-great, “Once he made up his mind to conquer a territory, Alexander the Great was unstoppable. He was a brilliant general: courageous in battle, firm in command of his troops, and ingenious as a military tactician. If a community did not have a leader who cared about each and everyone of their citizens, then they wouldn’t have a strong community. “According to Alexander at the Temple of Zeus-Ammon an elderly man, came to Alexander and said, “Rejoice, son: take this form of address as from god also.” He replied, “I accept, father; for the future I Shall be called thy son. But tell me if thou givest me the rule of the whole earth” (para 2). This proves Alexander the great is a hero during his time because it states that he acknowledging what the priest has to say and that he cares. Having a leader who cared about you and treated you like everyone else would've been great. Alexander chose to help and improve others, rather than himself. According to Lined with gold, “In large-heartedness, Alexander always looked to set an example to others. After defeating the Persian king Darius in the Battle of Issus, Alexander got hold of a lot of Darius’ wealth and his family including his mother, wife, and daughters. Alexander treated Darius” (para 8). This proves Alexander the great is a hero because he was a religious, helpful, and generous leader. Everybody makes mistakes and Alexander is just a person who made only a couple bad decisions. Having Alexander as a leader would be great especially during wars, because when he made commands you would be able to trust him and agree with what he was deciding to
