Throughout history, there has been great military leaders come and go. Although, one of the most well-known conquerors is Alexander the Great. Many people thought he was a good leader and a good king. However, the people he conquered think otherwise. The people who supported him say he was compassionate towards others.
Alexander the Great was born in 356 BCE. He was born into royalty. A hired philosopher (Aristotle) taught Alexander about academic subjects, politics, sports, and warfare. Alexander the Great also made the Macedonian army into a deadly fighting machine. Alexander was not great for these reasons, his disrespect to others, how hungry he was for power, and his fearfulness of the world and people in it.
Alexander the Great was a successful leader and tactician. Even though he was successful in these departments, we don’t see much of his politician skills being used. Alexander the Great, born in the northern kingdom of Greece, Macedonia, is easily one of the most famous people in history. Known for conquering most of what they knew as the world, Alexander accomplished a lot. From leadership, to tactics he used in battle, Alexander the Great was a successful man.
Alexander III of Macedonia inherited an empire that included the kingdom of Macedonia and the city-states of Greece. He was a very cruel and harsh leader. Almost immediately, Alexander set out to conquer the Persian Empire. He achieved his dream when he was 30 but then died a few years later. Alexander is one of the most famous people in history.
I don’t think that Alexander was a great king. He did far too much bad. He has killed thousands of people. Burned their temples, and treated people very badly. He went to conquer many place and took over when they didn’t want him there at all.
Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, and all of Greece was one of the greatest, and well known military commanders of all time. Even in death he inspired many other rulers. His military genius was amazing and he always knew what to do during a battle. Alexander the Great was born in 356 B.C. to King Philip II who succeeded his brother.
He had great military success. Alexander was a man that took chances, and these chances proved to be the most memorable. The tasks that he completed and the ideas that he made change the world. Alexander the Great change history; some historians say that he was one of the greatest leaders of this time for many different ways. Alexander the Great was born 356 B.C. .
Having the powerful Philip II as a father, he also had a lot to prove to his country of Macedon. Since they didn’t see eye to eye, Alexander strived to be a better leader than his father which sparked the ambitiousness inside of him. Alexander the Great deserves the title of best ruler because he was well prepared through his educational background and his miltary strategies and genius.
Few historical figures stand out in the same degree as that of Alexander the Great. He was a warrior by 16, a commander at age 18, and was crowned King of Macedon by the time he was 20 years old. There were many leaders in the world, but a great ruler is passionate, honorable and one who can inspire even in the most hopeless circumstances. Alexander the great was not only inspiring, but he was fearless, smart and courageous. He knew how to get along with everyone and that played a major role for his successful journey on conquering.
A reader may think that Alexander is good but others may disagree. As Alexander grew older he conquered many places and achieved many goals. At the age of eighteen he was left in charge of the Macedonian Army, while in charge he never lost a battle. Throughout his experience of leading the Macedonian Army he spread Greek culture all over the Mediterranean.
Alexander has been named Alexander the Great, but was he really a great leader? Alexander did have some great accomplishments, but all of the many terrible things he did overpower the great things. The tactics he used in order to leave such great legacies were harsh and forceful. People only pay attention to the world-changing things he did when they should really focus on how he did them. Alexander was selfish, cruel and an overall power-hungry tyrant.
One reason Alexander was great was because of his leadership skills. This is because “More than once, Alexander was at the front of an attack” (BGE). He wanted to let his people know that he cared for the battle and for them. He also wanted to make his empire larger for his people, so he did. Alexander expanded eastward into lands people have never seen or heard of before.
There are many great kings and leaders of every nation. None, however, contend with Alexander the Great. Alexander was a great leader who contained within himself a great energy which lead him to do what no other had been able to do to such an extent. He conquered nearly all the known land of his time, from sea to shining sea.
Before he was even born, Alexander the Great was destined for “great”ness. His mother “dreamed a thunderbolt fell upon her body,” kindling a great fire. His father dreamt that he “sealed up is wife’s body with a seal whose impression…was the figure of a lion.” One of their many soothsayers divined this as meaning the queen would give birth to a son, a boy who would “prove as stout and courageous as a lion” (Plutarch, 2001, p. 140).
Intelligence, bravery, and leadership, are all characteristics you look for in a hero, that’s what Alexander the Great is but, is he really great or just a power hungry king.. Alexander the Great was King Philip 's son who took over the world, he became the leader of Macedonia in 336 BCE. He was destined for power and started his strike in Asia Minor, this strike led him to take over most of Europe. Alexander was a great leader that used his intelligence and bravery to take down civilizations. Alexander was an intelligent leader that used his strategies to take over most of Europe in only 11 years, that is including the 3 most significant territories, Egypt, Greece and Persia (DOC A). He was very intelligent because out of all of his territories he took over, only 5 of the territories had a battle with him.
