However, it is my opinion that he is a villain. I believe this because he could be an extremely violent leader and because he never fully reigned over one of the places he conquered/ruled. He is a villain because he murdered thousands of people and soldiers from different nations. Alexander tortured many of his victims and then he killed them.
I definitely think Alexander the Great was great. Although ruthless and short-tempered, he conquered the entirety of Southwest Asia, and I think it’s hard to argue him being a poor leader from that statement alone. Nonetheless he had many other accomplishments, he unified Greece, got revenge on Persia for burning the Acropolis in Athens, among other things. He was learning to be a leader from a young age, and, in fact, was tutored by Aristotle himself!. In addition, when thrusted into power after his father’s death, he systematically rid himself of domestic rivals to the throne, not to mention the speed and efficiency in which he did it.
Alexander was not great I think that Alexander was not great. In my opinion Alexander was not very great at all. He may have had some pretty amazing accomplishments but that does not mean he was great at what he does or how he did it and it for sure does not mean he was a great person by any means. The Egyptian people were under control from Persia, and while under normal circumstances, they would be wary of someone like Alexander, they hated the persians and didn’t think he could be any worse. When he arrived there, the egyptians treated him like a pharaoh with all the benefits and ceremonies that come with that title. All of this shows that Alexander was indeed great. He easily took his forces to Egypt and won the Egyptian’s favor.
