Throughout history, there has been great military leaders come and go. Although, one of the most well-known conquerors is Alexander the Great. Many people thought he was a good leader and a good king. However, the people he conquered think otherwise. The people who supported him say he was compassionate towards others.
He was not great because he didn’t show concern for others, leadership, or intelligence. Alexander the Great was not the best because of his mass amounts of murder, not much care for his soldiers, and his poor ability to lead. The first reason Alexander the Great is not amazing because of the mass amount of murder he committed. One example is during the battle at Tyre, once Alexander’s army broke into the city they went on a ferocious killing spree (Doc C). Alexander had ordered anyone that was not inside the temple to be slain and he killed seven thousand Tyrians.

If he massacred all of the city, then people would have seen him as a cruel tyrant and grown to hate him which would lead to mutinies and rebellions. This demonstrates that if Alexander was so great then why would his officers just leave him unless he did something that made them feel disrespected or feel uncomfortable. He was born in 356 BCE, more than 300 years before Jesus of Nazareth. First Alexander should not be considered great because he killed many innocent people and he had a huge ego and he conquered everything in his way. Document A is an example of this because it talks about his route and how many cities he went through and destroyed everything and everyone in his path. This makes Alexander not great because those people didn't harm or hurt him in any way. He felt like they were in his way and anything in his way is to be destroyed.

However, it is my opinion that he is a villain. I believe this because he could be an extremely violent leader and because he never fully reigned over one of the places he conquered/ruled. He is a villain because he murdered thousands of people and soldiers from different nations. Alexander tortured many of his victims and then he killed them.
Alexander was not great I think that Alexander was not great. In my opinion Alexander was not very great at all. He may have had some pretty amazing accomplishments but that does not mean he was great at what he does or how he did it and it for sure does not mean he was a great person by any means. The reasons that people call Alexander a villain is because he killed and sold more than six thousand people, destroyed Thebes so that other city-states in Greece would be afraid of him., and said no to “uncivilized” customs.
