Holly Hassel and Jessica Lourey are English professors at their respective universities. In the second paragraph of the essay they posed a question that shapes this essay: “How do we teach our students to be accountable for their educational choices and performances? To answer their hypothesis, they took a survey of one thousand and ninety-five students total. The surveyed included questions about the meaning of each letter grade, perceptions of teacher/ student relationships and how many hours should be spent studying per three credit hour class. Ninety-three percent of students rated themselves responsible, thirty-nine percent of students had missed three or more days of class at the tenth week of the semester.
In Mike Rose’s essay “I Just Wanna Be Average” he explains how students as well as teachers struggle throughout the school day. Teachers have the ability to make students want to learn or shut off the brain completely. They constantly say that “education helps people get somewhere in life and every class everyone need to take for granted” but most teacher do not help the student get there. Rose is right how teachers can fail students just how they act in the classroom and if teachers want to help people be successful they need to act it. Mike Rose’s unqualified teachers set him up for failure.
SCS teachers, parents and community leaders worked diligently to develop a high-leverage priority to focus on efforts and resources for the next 10 years. Goals set before the collaborative team were clear, reviewed and updated. Although 2025 is in the future, the work is happening to produce engaged and prepared students (SCS, 2015). The productive systems are accountable, created and connected to the goals. Members of the collaborative group understands and talk about their goal-centered accountability.
Analytical Summary In the article “Low-Wage Workers Are Finding Poverty Harder to Escape,” Greenhouse (2014) states that a huge number of families in the United States are low-wage workers. As a result of this low salary, they continue to live under poverty even though if they work for more hours. Some of them resort to charities to get financial help. Also, he mentions that nowadays low-wage workers are more educated and almost older than those in the past but they have less pay than before because of inflation and many factors.
The first day of college was different for me since it started during the summer. My writing skills in the beginning of the class weren 't as strong as they are now. I knew college would be a much more difficult than high school because there would be a larger work load. The diagnostic essay was the first essay I wrote in college. The documentary, “On the Way to School”, was filmed and released for public viewing in 2015. This documentary was filmed in four main locations: Kenya, Morocco, Argentina, and India. The person who produced the documentary was Pascal Plisson. Two groups that helped to film “On the Way to School” were UNESCO and the French NGO “Aide et Action”. The general purpose of the documentary were to inform the public the long, hardship-ridden journey that children in less wealthier countries must endure to receive an education.

The Fundamental Theorem of Algebra expresses that any polynomial of degree n will have n roots. Moreover, Descartes’ rule of signs states that the number of real positive and negative roots can be determined through the number of sign changes present within a given polynomial. In order to demonstrate my understanding of the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra and Descartes’ rule of signs, I will provide two polynomials and predict the number of complex roots for each. Polynomial 1: f(x)=x^4-6x^2+x^3+3x-4 Based on my understanding, the degree let’s me know how many zeros the function has—4 in this case, which I have highlighted in blue.
