When a film grosses more than $1 billion, it’s going to get a sequel. It’s only a matter of time (no pun intended here) - and in the case of the highly profitable live-action Alice in Wonderland, it took slightly longer than six years. However, the release of an Alice in Wonderland sequel fires up the seemingly ongoing issue - in regards to whether or not such a film actually warrants a sequel.

The peanut gallery - trolls and crab-ass critics - will claim that a sequel of this nature is nothing more than a Disney money grab, or something to the effect (since the first film wasn’t exactly well received). Okay, so the Hatter doesn’t have a back story in the original story - so what? This reinvented interpretation creates new, unexplored avenues for these characters to delve into - and by the time it’s over, it’s really quite …show more content…

But, at the end of the day - this is a film targeted at children, and with that in mind, this movie at least sends solid thematic messages about the importance of honesty and family.

Regardless of the ups and downs of the characters and acting portrays, Alice Through the Looking Glass is a visual achievement like few others. The visuals outdo that of its predecessor, creating a colorful, eye-popping bananza that is undoubtedly made to be witnessed in 3D. While the characters often appear to be pale and retracted, the environments - like Time’s workshop (or whatever you want to call it) and the tea time table (get ready for all the time puns you can
