The word celebrity means to be “admired” or “adorned”, by a large audience or society. When a star is being presented to the public, their life is painted out to be almost flawless, as they “live in a world of bliss”. Many are attracted to an unattainable lifestyle that is so envied, and many wonder what lies behind a Celebrity? Is there something past being popular or envied, such as a message or action that speaks louder than a false representation of life? Most likely the answer is yes, who wouldn’t be intrigued in knowing such an idol still has morals and kindness within.
One celebrity who catches the public's eye is Alicia Keys a singer, actress and artist who came to fame for writing her original music and co producing albums as well as working on her acting career. She was born to Teresa Augelloz and Craig cook on January 25th in 1981. As a child Alicia remarks that she was “surrounded by music”, her mother was into jazz and so that genre of music very much influenced her career. She also learned about music through the Suzuki method, which teaches young children to play piano and violin. Alicia learned classical piano and she says that learning piano helped her to “understand more about music and how to create it”. Her effort shows how she goes beyond just donating money to her cause and actually cares by setting time aside to speak to children who have lost their parents to aids. She also comes from a more relatable background; she didn’t have it easy as a child and had to work for her success, her mother was a single parent and she did not have a father figure in her life.
