In both Rear Window and La La Land there is a dinner table argument scene. Both of these fights play an important part in each movie. In La La Land we see this fight that almost marks the end of the “honey mood” period of their relationship. There has been a lot of buildup to this argument as it is one of the first fights seen between the main couple. In Rear Window we see Grace and James arguing yet again it seems like over how privileged Grace is.

For the final project I chose to make a short movie that relates in theme to the book Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenrhich. The short movie used different forms of media to illustrates poverty. Thought the movie I focus on seven different topics under the category of poverty. I start with the dream of wealth and why people work hard. Then, I move on to the current situation of people out of work and without jobs followed by the debt that is holding many people back.

Lee was been nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for "Do the Right Thing" in 1990 and again for "4 Little Girls" in 1997. While he did not win either time, his blanking from the academy ended Saturday night when he received an honorary Oscar at the Governor 's Awards. (According to Rolling Stone, Lee did receive a "Student Academy Award" in 1983 for his NYU thesis film Joe 's Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads.)

Despite some issues, The Gilded Age, or Industrial era, overall had a great impact on America. During this time, the economy saw a great increase, people were given new opportunities such as jobs, and the popularity of America increased globally. I really enjoyed watching "The Gilded Age", and found it very educational. I found the meaning of the name of the documentary interesting, the fact that America put off this image that they were perfect but behind the image were various issues. I guess you could say this proves to never judge a book by its cover.

Citizen Kane (1941) made significant contributions and cinematic advances on many fronts. It challenged traditional narratives as well as various technical elements of classic Hollywood cinema in its use of deep focus technique. Deep focus is a technique whereby everything has been incorporated in the frame as opposed to focusing only at the foreground. “Combination of lighting, type of camera lens, and composition, all designed to come up with the most desired focus, are the major focus of the cinematographer” (Cameron, 2008, p 218). There are many things that make “Citizen Kane” considered as possibly one of the greatest films every made; to the eyes of the passive audience this film may not seem the most amazing, most people being accustomed to the classical Hollywood style, but to the audience with an eye for the complex, “Citizen Kane” breaks the traditional Hollywood mold and forges its own path for the better. The film 13th directed by Ava DuVernay targets an intended audience of the Media and the three branches of the United States government with an emphasis that mass incarceration is an extension of slavery. It is intended to inform viewers about the criminalization of African Americans and the United States prison boom. 13th uses rhetorical devices in its claim to persuade the viewers by using exemplum in the opening seconds of the film. President Barack Obama presents statistics, saying “the United States is home to 5% of the world’s population but is home to 25% of the world’s prisoners.” Also the film uses a hyperbole in talking about the movie Birth of a Nation produced in 1915 which portrays a black man as a violent savage who will kill white women.
From swinging jazz music to bright lights and the silver screen, this decade will get your shindig pumped up. A new type of music came out, it’s called “jazz music”, there are even different types of jazz just like “cool jazz” and “soul jazz’. This new music brings everyone a new happy atmosphere. Mostly people in black neighborhoods are listening to jazz because it was originated by African music and combined with band instruments and rhythm & blues.
Steven Spielberg is an American director whose had countless top grossing films and captured the attention of American audiences. “Jaws”, “Jurassic Park”, “Saving Private Ryan” and 42 more films have been directed by Spielberg and have been credited with countless awards. Spielberg has worked with award winning actors, used groundbreaking technology, and is even considered to be the father of the New Hollywood Era. As a child Steven would film things like family events and occasions and soon went onto directing tv shows, before movies, starting in the mid 80’s to the present. Steven Spielberg is the most memorable director due to his advances in movie special effects and setting the stage for summer blockbusters.

I chose to compare two popular movies Frankie & Alice and the 2007 version film Sybil.
