All the horrors in the concentration camps were a nightmare. The concentration camps were miserable because they tortured people, made them work under poor circumstances, and even killed them. In 1933 Hitler opened the first concentration camp, where they did all these things. In the concentration camps they tortured people for being different. They were tortured so much that they didn’t understand their greatness anymore. When liberation came, they brought them into the doctors. They were sad and scared. It was like a child with no imagination. Most were not only emotionally damaged, but physically damaged. One man had been pierced by a red-hot iron on his ankle. Another had gotten his toenails ripped off. One man was completely covered in dog bites. Some knew they were going to die. If you refused to work or couldn’t because you were to sick, or something, you were instantly killed. You didn’t get a chance to get better. If you couldn’t work you were worthless.
