What is something we see in films all too often? Something we see in everyday life, something that consumes and overtakes some people’s lives: greed. The “bad guy” in some films are usually determined to steal a great amount of money for himself. For example, Hans in Die Hard (John McTiernan, 1988) had a well thought out plan of successfully taking this money that did not belong to him. The money was all that he cared about, but the Joker in the film The Dark Knight, (Christopher Nolan, 2008) money is not all he wants. In the scene where the Joker is seen burning a big pile of money, referred to as the “Everything Burns” scene, he states that it is, “not about the money, it’s about sending a message.” All the Joker wants is to be the better
