When the boys decided to build a fire, Ralph jumped into action and started up to the top of the mountain where they were starting the fire. All of the boys followed closely behind. Piggy tried to gather their attention again to plan it out and think more about how to go about it. As a result of the group not listening to Piggy, the fire got out of control and burned one side of the mountain and presumably, killed at least one of the little boys. If Ralph hadn’t been in such a hurry to start the signal fire, it’s likely that none of that would’ve happened.

Jack has a desire for power, but the other boys vote for Ralph as leader; this conflict slips the boys into two tribes. In the end, they get rescued, but
Jack spends all his time trying to hunt this pig but cannot bring himself to kill it. Jack wastes time hunting the pig all day when he could be spending time doing something beneficial for the group. Eventually, Jack's focus on the pig leads to the fire going out, “You let the fire go out.” …“We can light the fire again. You should have been with us, Ralph.
By the author telling the story this way, it was known why certain events happened and why some of the boys made the choices they made. He goes hunting with other boys on the island, and they successfully kill a pig. Unfortunately, they let the signal fire out in the process. Ralph tries to look for the boys, when they come marching in, carrying a dead pig. The boys, led by Jack, are chanting “kill the pig. Cut her throat.
Without Piggy this would have never been possible as his glasses help create the fire. As Ralph is in control the fire stays on and there is a hope that he boys will act civilized and stick together, but once the fire is turned of the only one that still has a desire to get rescued is Piggy as all the other boys attempt to change their life style and accept their fate. The signal fire thus functions as a kind of measurement of the strength of the civilized instinct remaining on the island. Ironically, at the end of the novel, a fire finally summons a ship to the island, but not the signal fire. Instead, it is the fire of savagery the forest fire
As the book continues, a fire is made in hopes for a rescue, and Jack becomes obsessed with hunting and becomes violent. Piggy has many smart ideas that Ralph ends up using, and Jack eventually leaves the tribe and creates his own. Everyone except Ralph and Piggy join Jack’s tribe, until Ralph is the only one left. Their civilization starts to break down as well. The boys' isolation on the island, and their fear, leads them to chaos. This shows you that fear can lead people to act differently than their better nature. The boys go on to talk about a “beast” and how they fear it. The “beast” has caused so much fear that they hallucinate and a pig's head says to them, “Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill!”
Jack end up getting help from the people who are in charge of keeping the fire going. In the end there no one to keep the fire but Jack kill the pig. On page 76 in the book, Ralph says “There was a ship. Out there. You said you’d keep the fire going and you let it out!”
I had wondered what Jack’s tribe is like from when the two boys split up. Ralph was having lots of problems after simon died. Piggy, Simon, Samneric, Ralph, and I have been getting attacked by Jack’s tribe. I decided I would see all all the hype with this infamous leader is all about. I snuck away from the civilized tribe to the savage enemies atop the Castle Rock.
The trumpet like sound of the conch bursted through the jungle. As soon as I heard it I rushed towards the meeting place. A few boys were already there, but many still had to come. Over the course of 10 minutes almost all of the boys had shown up. When the group became quiet, Ralph explained how we needed to become more organized and that we needed rules.
One of the times Jack lets the fire go out a ship comes by. Ralph is enraged that Jack didn’t keep the fire going. Piggy is enraged as well. Piggy yells “You and your blood, Jack Merridew! You and your hunting!
As I was sitting there I could tell something was bothering Macbeth, he seemed paranoid. As I am about to start eating he yells at the top of his lungs which of you have done this? He started talking to his chair like someone was sitting there. I had to make an excuse for him talking to his chair. I told the guests that he occasionally has visions and that they should just ignore his behavior.
