Too much dismay, America wasn’t always the free continent like it is today. At one point Britain had rule of America, but over time the British kept taxing things due to their continuous growth. Due to all the taxing, America proposed the idea of leaving the British rule and in the act of separation the American Revolution happened. After America gained its independence, there was a new problem occurring. The new issue was whether America should allow slavery or not. In attempts to solve this issue another war broke out, The Civil War. It’s evident that a lot had happened to America in almost a hundred years. One of the first events to spark America’s separation would be the British taxation on the colonists. Due to the British continuously expanding its borders by capturing new land, they needed some income to keep everything maintained. The first liberty they took was by passing The Quartering Act. The Quartering Act, which enforced the colonists to either provide shelter for British soldiers or to pay for them to stay in a hotel. The new issue was a sectional difference that would divide the North (the Union) and South (the confederates). The North wanted to abolish slavery but the South didn’t. As the North grew into a more mechanical period by using the cotton gin they eliminated the need for slavery, but the South didn’t have that kind of technology yet and heavily depended on slaves. Since it was hard to decide how to solve the issue it dragged on, which caused tensions to grow. Abraham Lincoln’s election pushed the south into starting the civil war.
