According to Crouch (2022), “Wright brothers, American brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who achieved the first powered, sustained, and controlled airplane flight in 1903.” The Wright Brothers’ contribution was a big one to society and had an impact on many jobs and cultures around the world and the globe. The very first self-propelled sustained flight took place on December 17th, at Kitty Hawk North Carolina in 1903. The flight lasted for about 12 seconds and flew 20 feet above the ground for 120 feet (Bowdoin Van Riper, A, 2003-2004). The very beginning of it all started with the 1904 glider (SIRS Issues Researcher, 2003). This aircraft had a tremendous impact on military status and employment (SIRS Issues Researcher, 2003). It was sold to the U.S. Army Signal Corps and the price it was sold for was, thirty thousand dollars (Gluodenis, R. 2003). The set price was twenty-five thousand dollars (Gluodenis, R. 2003). The U.S. government continues to pour billions of dollars into the aviation industry, as to this day (Gluodenis, R. 2003). Without this industry, people would obtain less opportunities and there would not be as many jobs available around the world today. Through the airplane industry, it opened a wide door for people to travel to far away places which allows them to learn a variety of skills in preparation for life skills and jobs. People learn a variety of languages when they travel out of the country, and lots of students are able to study abroad and are given that opportunity to learn lots of things outside of their culture. Without the first plane, these kinds of opportunities would not be possible, and people would be less educated when it comes to learning and speaking new languages. Planes allow for travel and easy destination access to the farthest countries in the world, and make things flow smoother for people. The Wright brothers created a invention that was so impactful on todays society. Without their invention of the first glider. Airplane technology would not be where it is today, we would not be as advanced as our society has grown to be. Making their invention public was one of the best decisions they had ever made for not only them, but for others. In 1908 the brothers signed a contract for the sale of an airplane to the U.S. Army (Crouch 2022). They would get twenty five thousand dollars for handing over a machine capable of flying for at least one hour with a pilot and passenger (Crouch 2022). The next month, they signed a second agreement with French investors that were interested in building and selling Wright machines under license (Crouch 2022). This
