American Brown Bear Lab Report

Abstract: This lab references the DNA relationships between different organisms and places them on phylogenetic trees showing the differences and the similarities among the so said organisms. It is important to understand and learn about DNA sequences so that organisms can be classified appropriately and with DNA encompassing everything’s external and internal features, knowing how DNA works is significant to the advancing of the world’s knowledge. The lab provided specific organisms with information on the scientific name, origin, and what their appetite is. An evolutionary cladogram was to be drawn off of the given information that the organisms possessed. A hypothesis was formed with considering which of the given organisms had the most physiognomies in common. With that in mind, the American Black Bear and the American Brown Bear were next to each other in the cladogram due to both of the two bears having a related origin, similar appetite and the matching genus names. The same concept was applied …show more content…

The biochemistry is very similar through all organisms with each containing DNA made from adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine. First, the DNA is transcribed into mRNA. That specific RNA is then converted into an amino acid sequence by ribosomal RNA. The amino acid code makes up a polymer that ultimately becomes the protein that constructs the organism’s distinctiveness. That is how the given organisms establish their physiognomies. With the knowledge of the organisms DNA sequencing, the more enhanced the theory of evolution becomes, leading to which of the given organisms are correlated with each other. The organism’s ancestry can also be studied through where the organism subsists and what it ingests. Just looking at the organisms region and what it consumes can create an accurate postulation but DNA sequencing can demonstrate a common ancestor even
