The Great Gatsby, Martin Luther King’s, “I Have a Dream” speech, and Sherman Alexie’s, “Indian Education” prove that the American dream is not achievable because not everyone is willing to change and accept others, not everyone has the drive and passion to get what they want, and you can’t change other people’s feelings about things. I interpret the American dream to be living in a good financial state, having close relationships with others, and there being equality and acceptance throughout communities across America. She ended up getting away and leaving town with Tom to avoid all of the trouble she caused. This proves that you can’t change people’s feelings because as much persuading and love that Jay showed Daisy, in the end, she didn’t show one bit of sorrow. Obviously, the whole nation will not be willing to change, because you can’t really persuade every single person.
