During this quarters readings we have read this year all have something to do with one very meaningful quote “we as human beings, must be willing to accept people who different from ourselves”. Each of these readings ,american flag stands for no tolerance , texas vs johnson majority opinion ,and last the lottery . All these stories relate to the quote about accepting others who differ and how we need to be willing to accept them. First in the court case “Texas V. Johnson majority opinion” they stated that the people had the right to burn the flags due to the first amendment protecting them even if offended. For example they quoted “the way to preserve the flags special role is to not punish those who feel different it’s to persuade them that they are wrong”(lines 30-36). Furthermore “our decision is a reaffirmation of the principles of freedom and inclusiveness that the flag best reflects” (lines 27-29). He also states “any messages that burning the flag might convey easily can be communicated in other ways “. So from these quotes i can infer that his tone is indecisive and that he nor favors either agreeing or disagreeing.
