Throughout history, we have explored and conquered new lands, stamping the American flag into the earth and claiming it as ours — even if the rightful owners disagree. These feats have enabled us to assert ourselves throughout the world, settling communities and influencing those around us. In doing so, our ancestors refined distinct societies, adapting to the terrain and operating accordingly. Our efforts were not invariably supported, however, and disputes arose among those who were indigenous to the lands we thought ours.
Pamphleteer, Thomas Paine, in his book, Rights of Man, signifies the American political revolution to independence from England. Paine characterizes Americans for their concord and how their unity is unexpected. He doesn’t expect this unity because of the diversity that exists in the nation, and he argues the unity of Americans by describing the beneficial factors of living in the nation. Paine’s description of American principles can be used today, as many of these principles still exist, allowing Americans to unify.
Despite Thomas Paine’s numerous contributions to the world, he is often overshadowed by John Locke, the so-called father of democracy. However, by modifying the public’s understanding of Locke, Paine altered the character and destiny of both American and World History. Thomas Paine’s ideas and efforts inspired and focused the American Revolution; he provided the colonists with the ideals and courage needed for the founding of a new nation. In his efforts to unite and direct the colonists, Paine created what may have been one of his greatest phrases: The United States of America. He provided Americans and Europeans with the rational thought, inspiration, and confidence to reject outmoded social and political structures of the past and the courage to implement ideals of freedom, equality, and human rights to provide a better future for mankind.
Many educated individuals know about the past history the United States have been in. Most of the time it was started for political reasons rather than freedom abilities. Other times it was set out to seek independence from other nations or certain individuals. Above it all, what the main concern was when it was settled out for combat. Back then the settlers would be the unfortunate victims who had to fight for the origin.
For the colonists, these abstract concepts created a unified foundation of beliefs an ever-changing time. At the heart of the American Revolution was the idea of liberty, with many colonists feeling that their freedoms were being infringed upon by the British government. In Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense,” he argues for independence saying “Until an independence is declared the continent will feel itself like a man who continues putting off some unpleasant business from day to day, yet knows it must be done, hates to set about it, wishes it over, and is
“The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind” (Paine 1). With the Revolutionary War beginning in 1775, and the publication of Common Sense, by Thomas Paine, only a year later, this statement was widely recognized and addressed the issue at hand: the fight for independence. According to Paine’s assertion, America’s desire for peace and freedom is a basic necessity of life; it is what all men desire. Despite this innate thirst for liberty, many residents of America’s thirteen colonies were fearful of Great Britain, and because of this fear, complied with Great Britain’s every whim. Consequently, most colonists were hesitant to fight against the mother country for independence.

Individuals lay the foundation of America. The Founding Fathers of this unique nation broke their allegiance with Great Britain to create an improved governing body. They desired an individual-centered authority as opposed to Britain’s monarchy, which ruled with tyranny. These Founding Fathers experienced a neglectful democratic monarchy that cared little about the ethical treatment of its people. The domineering actions of Britain challenged these historic individuals to form a new cultural identity.
Firstly, during the years around the time of the American
Before researching the topic on Provincial America and Independence, I had a limited amount of knowledge pertaining to our nation’s founding fathers, and essentially their mindsets. However, after conducting further examination, one is able to determine that America’s founding fathers had very interesting, yet simple perspectives on the basic principles of our country. Therefore, such mindsets ultimately formed a strong foundation for the concepts and rights on which both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were built upon. By analyzing each phrase of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, one is able to determine that the rights and ideas, discussed in each of the documents, were aimed to preserve the life, liberty, and property of America’s wealthy white men. As a result of this concept, all women, African American slaves, Native Americans, and poverty-stricken men were left without a sense of entitlement to these same rights.
The right to abortion is one of the most controversial topics in modern day American society, filling daily life with extreme debates, protests and discussions. This specific issue is specifically about the termination of pregnancies in America, along with the ethical and moral issues behind it. An abortion is a medical procedure that terminates a pregnancy by medication or surgery, done for various reasons. The divide on the topic of abortion is between the people that believe it is a woman's right to be able to make that decision and those who believe it is immoral and should be illegal.
