The right to abortion is one of the most controversial topics in modern day American society, filling daily life with extreme debates, protests and discussions. This specific issue is specifically about the termination of pregnancies in America, along with the ethical and moral issues behind it. An abortion is a medical procedure that terminates a pregnancy by medication or surgery, done for various reasons. The divide on the topic of abortion is between the people that believe it is a woman's right to be able to make that decision and those who believe it is immoral and should be illegal. Currently pro-choice groups argue that making abortion illegal won’t stop abortions, as women will seek unsafe and illegal abortion, which wouldn’t help society in the long run. On the other side of the debate on abortion rights are the pro-life groups, who argue that abortion is morally wrong and should be illegal, often saying that abortion is equal to murder. Many pro-life activists believe that life starts at conception, which backs up their argument that abortion is murder. These new laws enrage pro-choice activists and have sparked many protests, lawsuits and heated debates arguing that restricting abortion rights is unconstitutional and goes against Roe v. Wade, used to protect abortion across America. The intended outcomes of these two sides is to either provide legal and safe abortions across America or fully ban abortions nationwide to “protect new life”.

I believe that abortions should be legal and easily accessible in America, as well as the rest of the world. Women should have the complete right to make decisions about their own bodies no matter what the decision is, just like men have the same right. Why should a woman not be able to make the decision to get an abortion when a man could make the decision to have a vasectomy?
