Abraham Lincoln one said “Standing as I do, with my hand upon this staff, and under the folds of the American flag, I ask you to stand by me so long as I stand by it.” The American flag symbolizes purity, valor, justice, perseverance and many more prestigious attributes. Not one person in our country or out of our country should be able to disrespect or violate our flag. To continue, the flag should not be desecrated due to how many people died for it and what it symbolizes for our country. There have been over 1.1 million American soldiers that have died for our country and our flag. This is over a millions families that had a dad, mother, uncle, brother, etc. that was lost and will not come back. In addition, for someone to disrespect the flag is like disrespecting all of those soldiers that gave literally everything that they had in order to protect our nations symbol. By treating our nations flag with rudeness is basically saying to all who were lost that you gave your life up for me for no reason. The first flag was made on June 14, 1777, nearly 240 years from today and has been the symbol for our nation for many, many years. For an item to represent billions of people for years upon years should show people that it is very important to America. Desecrating the white stripes in the flag is like throwing away our equality. Corrupting the red stripes is showing we have no courage and integrity as an American. Burning a star is cutting a state off from our country and harming the blue in the flag shows that we have no faith. How can we be the home of the free and the land of the brave if we take our nations symbol and disrespect it? I do not think it is possible to do both and as people of America we have to look at how the flag has held us together for so
