The American Revolution was a major event in modern history, this was the turning point between the British Parliament and American colonists. The tension between the two parties escalated over time due to the issues of taxation, representation and sovereignty. The colonists resisted British rule, which increased protests and boycotts to armed rebellion. This ultimately led to the Declaration of Independence, and birthed the United States of America. The American victory over England and the creation of a republican form of government had consequences both domestically and internationally. The newly formed nation republican model served as inspiration for other nations who were also seeking freedom from colonial and or monarchial rule. The
