From the 1750-1900 CE, it was a time period of industrialization and global connections, but other than that, uprising revolutions were occurring. During this era, the Industrial Revolution was taking place, but that wasn't the only revolution happening, there were also the Atlantic revolutions, and out of those revolutions were the American Revolution and French Revolution. The American Revolution and French Revolution are similar as they both had a common objective which was to subvert their existing government, however, they are different as the American Revolution was a successful colonial revolution, while the French Revolution was a revolution that took violent measures, but did not succeed entirely. The French Revolution had a greater amount of bloodshed than the American Revolution and this may be due to location. As mentioned before, the French Revolution was a home-based revolution while the American Revolution was a colonial one and so the French had easier access to their “enemy.” The Americans’ methods of a revolution were through boycotting British products and they refused to pay taxes. Their boycotting methods can be seen through an event called the Boston Tea Party, where they dumped British imported tea in the harbor, which showed their nonviolent methods. The French took violent measures during the revolution, erupting the “Reign of Terror,” which was a time period of violence and executions between the Jacobins and Girondins.
