“My family had a deep faith in God”. The novel American Sniper, a biography written by Chris Kyle, begins with describing his background starting with a religous, Texas raised family. He includes interests and passions that he had as a child, including feeling that he was responsible even in elementary, for defending the underdogs on the playground. The family's moral values stand out, it is clear that the Kyle parents made sure to raise their two boys up “right”. Chris had a brother, who he was very close with, the family was very tight knit after all. The two boys grew up on the Texas dirt constantly ending fights, raising hell, and well, simply being boys. The main character, Chris Kyle, is both a dynamic and round character because he changes completely over the course of the story. In the beginning of the story he was a very intense Navy Seal who chose everything over his family. Everything that had to do with war at least. As his life continues, he realizes that there was more to life than war and that he needed to be there for his family. This comes from realizing that his children are growing up without him, and having to cope with PTSD at home, in front of his family. After beginning to come to terms with the idea of having a life outside of his title, “The Legend”, he finally began to spend more time with his family. He started to strengthen his bonds and work on his relationship with his wife, kids, and friends. However as he begins to make these drastic changes, the love for his country, and the commitment that he feels to being a Navy Seal never changes. After reading this book I can walk away and say that I know Chris Kyle: The Legend: The American Sniper. He is such an inspiration in so many ways, it has made me so much more thankful for our US service members, and the sacrifices they make to fight against the evil in the
