World War II was a very new experience for the average american. The United States had a very significant role in the war.. Americans at home did not experience the murders and brutal scenes as other countries saw it. However, the changes at home due to the war altered America in a big way. One of the biggest changes was that of the average american woman. American Women were altered from the average stay at home wife into a woman with a voice and an actual purpose. For the first time women were able to help out in the industry. Women all around the country got jobs working in America.As many American men were sent to fight in Europe, millions of women went to the military, busy factories, and business offices to work for a paying jobs and to fill in the place of the men while they were out serving our country. Women were making a living on their own which we haven’t seen ever in history. They were independent and could actually hold down the fort(house). Most of the work that the women did helped out the war, like radios for the planes and ammunition for guns. …show more content…

They felt like they had a purpose other than to cook and clean.The war provided them with a much greater opportunity to work in different fields. Such as many women went to munition factories and they were even able to earn the same title as people in the war “munitionettes”. In the factories the women worked on all type of things that ranged from making ammo to uniforms and even planes. They counted bullets for the soldiers at war, they also mended planes that were a great factor in winning the
