From the founding of the nation the “American” term meant, courage, stand for freedom, pride, honor, even death, as the thousands of pages of different books throughout history tell the stories of Americans giving everything they had in order to have freedom and be called the greatest nation in the world. According to Ted Twietmeyer the Americans today need to appreciate what Americans were like back in the 18th and 19th century to understand where the American people are today.
