What is the American the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act, and why it is important?
To start we need to know that the Law system in the United States is completely different than in Spain, there the Law is based on the customs, and the day by day. In the United State, the Congress is divided in two: the Senate and the House of Representative. The fists rights that Americans had was the Bill of Rights, the first one is freedom of speech, religion, etc; the second is the right to carry a gun. After the Civil War they everybody is equal under the law, it means that African Americans and white have the same rights, but the Supreme Court is slow to move , so they fight in a very famous case, Plessy v. Ferguson, where an African American Women sent to the "colored" car. After these case, women changed the law. In 1973, was the first right to people with disabilities. In 2015, LGBT has same marriage right as other people.
After world War II, came the Great Depression, and the president of the moment, Franklin D. Roosevelt said that people need social wealth care. Right now the Supreme Court has eight judges, four of each side, but the new president will decide the number nine so it will be a 4-5 in the Supreme Court, the five win.
