Amy Elizabeth Fisher, born on August 21, 1974, gained notoriety in 1992 when, at the age of 17, she committed a violent act by shooting and causing severe injuries to Mary Jo Buttafuoco. At the time, Fisher was involved in a sexual relationship with Mary Jo's husband, Joey Buttafuoco. After first being charged with attempted murder in the first degree, she ultimately entered a guilty plea to first-degree aggravated assault and was sentenced to seven years in prison. Because of her age and the fact that she had an affair with a guy who was far older than her, she became dubbed as "the Long Island Lolita" in the tabloid media. With the help of Peter Guagenti, a Brooklyn auto supply salesman who also served as her getaway driver, she was able to get a pistol with a.25-caliber FIE Titan and proceeded to go to Buttafuoco's home. Upon Mary Jo Buttafuoco's arrival at the door, Fisher informed her about Joey Buttafuoco's alleged affair with Fisher's (imaginary) younger sister. As evidence, Fisher presented a T-shirt promoting Buttafuoco's auto body shop. During the course of the chat, which lasted approximately fifteen minutes, Buttafuoco became increasingly agitated. After firmly instructing Fisher to leave, she nonchalantly turned her back and made her way back to the house. Fisher brandished the firearm, delivering two forceful blows to Buttafuoco before ultimately firing a fatal shot to her head. In the aftermath, she recounted how the gravely injured Buttafuoco collapsed onto her. The shirt and the revolver were abandoned by Fisher as she rushed towards the car, but she later came back to get them, and Guagenti drove away. The physicians spent the night operating on Buttafuoco, and although they were unable to remove the bullet, they managed to preserve her life. Joey Buttafuoco suggested that Fisher might have been the gunman during his interview with the police.
