The musical plays provide humorous yet realistic depictions of what children experience when dealing with nighttime fears. The trio of musical plays primarily provides children demonstrations of how to overcome and develop the courage necessary when faced with nighttime fears. More importantly, the trio of musical plays provides young audience members a valuable lesson when dealing with scary nighttime situations. The character in There’s An Alligator Under My Bed, experienced difficulties discovering what foods are of interest to the alligator. This character provided the alligator a variety of consumables in the past that were ineffective. Through trial and error, and a little help from an imaginary friend, the character discovered foods the alligator enjoyed. The character in the play A Nightmare In My Closet experienced obstacles that consist of toy soldiers not sustaining guard to ensure his protection. The instance the nightmare in the closet identified itself; the soldiers would retreat, leaving the boy to protect himself. The character in something in my attic experienced obstacles when attempting to capture her nightmare. Every attempt she made to lasso the nightmare would fail, as the nightmare would weasel its way out of the rope. As a whole, the characters in the play displayed actions specifically designed to affect their nightmares. For instance, the character in There’s An Alligator Under My Bed demonstrated actions of desire to satisfy the alligator’s hunger. In the play A Nightmare In My Closet, the character displayed actions consistent to calming and alleviating the nightmares fears by providing it protection.
