Being Your Better Self Becoming better benefits a bunch of beings. When you become better, you may not know it, but people around you benefit from you trying to improve. This happens to the main protagonist, Santiago because he strives to become better and everyone and everything’s lives around him improve as well. In the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns, “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.” To begin, King Melchizedek tries to become better, and in return Santiago becomes better.
“We need to realize that our path to transformation is through our mistakes. We 're meant to make mistakes, recognize them, and move on to become unlimited” (Yehuda Berg). As the quote suggests, transformation occurs through mistakes. Even if one seems irrecoverable, there is always a flicker of hope. The novel Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen chronicles the journey of a “lost cause” into a rekindled and hopeful teenager.

In the novel Ethan Frome, written by Edith Wharton, Ethan, the main protagonist, encounters numerous challenges relating to his love life, social life, and personal life. Ethan’s actions could be analyzed through his decision-making process and used to display him as a self-reliant man. Self-reliance can be defined using criteria laid out by Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American transcendentalist philosopher, in his essay, “Self-Reliance”. Emerson writes about a checklist containing four primary attributes of a self-reliant person. The first necessary characteristic of a self-reliant person is the ability to exclusively fight for causes which s/he believes in.

To Change is to Grow Through the book “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy the boy and the father show a great amount of change and maturity, while also learning to adapt and love. The story has a good balance of how different events can affect and impact someone's life in either a good or bad way. There are many events that change the mind and heart of the boy and father, but change can only be helpful if you learn from it and mature out of being afraid for things to happen. The stories main idea is very tragic in a dark, grey world where nothing ever good happens and instead of learning to live your preparing to die.
By analyzing Claudius, in my opinion, he is a person who considers himself very Christian. However, his choices go against his Christianity and he tried to hide that. Jordan wasn’t always a cynical, untrustworthy, insolent, and careless person that she is in the story, she used to be a nice, caring, mostly truthful girl that lived in Albany, New York. When Jordan was ten years of age she enjoyed playing with friends outside, looking pretty, and working hard at school. She had high grades in all of her classes except science, she would often forgot names of cells or make a mess with the experiments when she dropped the beakers out of fear of ruining her clothes. Self fulfillment has an effect on every character it may affect them in good ways or they might have forgot what self fulfillment is. The idea of self-fulfiment has devolped and relected in literay test because it gives the readers the ideas of have clamities that the character faces to be where they are. In the books I have studied the author gives the reader a step by step analiys of how the character delvopes and achvies the long term or short term goal. The ideas the text creator gives is how the charactrers attempt to obtain the satifaction of self-fulfllment giving readers advice or fictonal stories on how the chracters over come the obsticals to reach self-fufliment.

By actively working on our self-development we can advance and progress and not be stuck at a certain point. ‘The social care worker is not practising to his or her full potential if they are not engaged in awareness and development of the self’ (Share & Lalor, 2009, p123). ‘Self-awareness, self-management and self-care are critical elements of emotional and professional competence’.
I spend a significant amount of time just thinking about myself as I go throughout my day. I constantly question myself: why am I the way that I am, what could I have done better here, what is my place in the world, etc. In the context of this paper, I have come to a conclusion. In the past, I was a leader. Now, I realized I have failed.
