Is there an event either major or minor that made you the person you are today? Maybe someone hurt you and that event caused you to not trust people easily. I’m saying this because the events around us affect us, they make us who we are. Every character has something in their life that is the reason they are who they are. An example of this being Chaya from Resistance by Jennifer Nielsen. Chaya is a brave and courageous person, but there is something that made her this way though; WW2. As a resistance fighter, Chaya would display her courageousness by going into the ghettos and sneak in things such as food and blank identity papers. Chaya learned that if she took part in the resistance she had to be able to fight and fight hard or else it would all be for nothing; it is her 3 lines of history. Being a part of the resistance is what caused her to be courageous. Another person who illustrates this idea is Jacqueline from Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson, who learned to be a good story teller by listening to others. As a little girl Jacqueline would sit on the porch listening to her relatives tell their stories and fond memories. Through listening she was able to tell the stories and pass them on, keeping the stories alive and telling her own. These stories will forever be a part of who she is. Furthering this idea she also feels unsteady about her religious beliefs. At a young age Jacqueline is forced into the religious group of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They believe that if you are a non believer you will not go to Heaven. She knows that her grandfather isn’t a Jehovah’s Witness, and by their beliefs he would not make it to Heaven. As a result Jacqueline has a hard time coming
