Dear Mr. President, Civic and political participation is important in order for the country to run successfully and smoothly. Each citizen has responsibilities and duties in which civic and political participation is one of the many. Political participation by a citizen not only help them but also the future generations and other citizens living in the country. In fact, citizens have almost complete control in deciding who get the political authority to lead the nation. It will maintain equality among the citizens and the government. Harriet Beecher Stowe influenced change through the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin that was published in 1852. She was born on June 14, 1811. The novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin describes the experience of a long-suffering of an African-American slave. It helped spread the message of inequality that is caused by slavery. In fact, it became the best-selling novel of the 19th century. It helped abolitionist who wanted to abolish slavery in order to end the inequality that is experienced by African-American. After the death of her child Charley, she associated the depression that she felt with the slaves whose children were separated from them during the slave trade.
