Harriet beecher stowe was born on june 14, 1811 in litchfield connecticut. She went to school in pierce academy. In 1832 her family moved to Cincinnati where her father Lyman Beecher was appointed President of Lane Theological Seminary. In 1850 congress passed the fugitive slave law prompting distress and distress in abolitionist stowe decided to express her feeling through a literary representation of slavery.
