From an early age, I noticed I had a passion for helping others. I knew that I wanted to help people, and I felt the best way was to become a nurse. Nurses were the ones that I was always able to relate to when I would visit the doctor's office or go to the emergency room as a kid. I feel that the desire to take care of others and to always pursue excellence in everything I do stems from a deep-rooted childhood event that took place when I was three years old. This event is the loss of my father. It is no secret how important the role of a father plays in a child's life. I will never see this circumstance as a means to pity, but more so a page in my life that drives an unfathomable commitment to achieving my dreams as my father would want. With UAB’s excellence in the field of Nursing, I hope to one day look back and call myself a UAB School of Nursing graduate. For these reasons, this is why I chose to apply to the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. From the moment I decided CRNA school was my goal in life, I have worked relentlessly to get there. Every decision I have made since my second semester of nursing school has been with the sole intention of getting myself one step closer to CRNA school. Throughout nursing school I worked on the weekends, seeing that was the only time I was able to allot to work. I worked at a local hospital in the area and once I discovered that critical care was what I needed to do to set myself up for Anesthesia school, I was asked to transfer to the ICU as a tech to be able to get early experience and exposure in the unit. At the end of my nursing school career, I knew that the cardiovascular intensive care unit was where I wanted to be to gain my experience and
