My instructor was a spunky woman. She stood at 5’4 with long, brown locks. She possessed a big personality and an even bigger aspiration for her career. On the first day of class she told us she was a registered nurse. She presented her career as emotionally fulfilling and gratifying. It was at that moment, listening to her on that first day, that I knew nursing was what I was called to do. Even as I shadowed nurses during my senior year of high school, I felt a belonging in my spirit. I observed these nurses show such compassion and solace to the people they continuously encountered.
