The majority of my life has been spent placing critical life events and accomplishments onto a timeline. For instance, it has been twenty-one years since I first wrapped my teddy bears in bandages and diagnosed their illnesses. It has been eleven years since I decided to become a nurse. It has been seven years since I was first admitted to Texas A&M University and struggled with the pressures of doing well in college while balancing a personal and family life. It has been almost three years since I last stepped foot on Texas A&M soil. These last three years, I have been slowly taking steps closer to achieving my dreams of working in the medical field. However, now it is time to add to my timeline by advancing my current knowledge in medical science through obtaining a Masters of Science in Biomedical Science. After college I spent two years managing the front office of a physical therapy clinic. Through this experience, I learned about the importance of truly listening and understanding what patients are going through. It seemed like my efforts during my undergraduate years were not enough to get me into a respectable nursing program. After receiving six rejection letters from four different colleges, I decided that I would try teaching. I spent the last year teaching middle-school children, this gave me the opportunity to build my skills at effectively communicating with children and their caregivers. Although it has been an incredible experience, I still find that I am drawn to nursing. Fortunately, I have learned that emptiness sometimes brings about clarity. Giving up and settling for a drastic career change was easy. However, putting everything on hold now to follow my passion for medicine is what will make me a valuable
