I grew up in a small town in Western India, and during high school I decided to pursue a career in the field of medicine, because of my enthusiasm to serve underserved medical communities, and my interest in gaining medical knowledge. Later, after high school, my family immigrated to the United States. Initially, I faced several challenges, including English as my second language and financial disadvantage. However, through my passion to overcome the challenges and persistent hard work, I was able to learn English and secure a part-time job to support my education. During my undergraduate career, I did not forget my passion for medicine, and my medical curiosity allowed me to accomplish academic excellence in premed courses. Medical school has provided me an opportunity to accomplish my goal of becoming a doctor.

At the clinic, we participate in comprehensive care for patients who cannot afford to pay for medical services. Through volunteering, I gain both medical experience and satisfaction for caring for the community. In addition, I tutor students for basic science classes. The tutoring experience has enhanced my leadership skills and basic science knowledge, and more importantly, I am able to help students. Moreover, I was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha during 3rd year, and as an AOA member I look forward to participating in additional community service projects.
