Ever since I read ‘The Alchemist’, I realized, for those who dare to dream, the world spreads out its arms. Those who aspire to realize their dreams conquer the world! This belief has always made me take ‘the path less travelled’ to learn, compete and shine. All my life, I have known a person who wouldn’t get angry when woken up by a phone call in the middle of the night: because it was about his patients. When required to assist an emergency at 4 a.m., he would not think twice. It made me wonder, where all other professions demanded curt professionalism with the client, could a profession as humanitarian and altruistic as that of a doctor exist? Indeed it has taught me to strive beyond my capabilities, which brought me to Karachi to study in one of the finest medical institutes of Pakistan, with students from all over the world. Working with many diverse personalities appeared a strenuous task at first, but soon I learned that all it takes is flexibility, open-mindedness and positive attitude to work as a team player. I realized how mingling with people from different origins and the challenges of living in an unfamiliar environment adds a unique dimension to my personality, instilling in me a desire to widen the horizons of my experiences.
