I’m (McMurphy) starting to think that trying to rebel and act ornery towards the Big Nurse is a bad idea. I know that it would be right to keep fighting the fact that the women are trying to rule us, but fighting the matriarchy may not benefit me. Not to long ago I figured out that the nurse can keep me here as long as she wants. Originally, I was planning on only serving my sentence and leaving. However, my behavior could warrant staying here forever, and I’m not even a psychopath.
It was at that moment, listening to her on that first day, that I knew nursing was what I was called to do. Even as I shadowed nurses during my senior year of high school, I felt a belonging in my spirit. I observed these nurses show such compassion and solace to the people they continuously encountered. As I ended my senior year, I asserted that I would become a nurse.
I took the next step and got my medication aide certification and have been working as one for two years at an assisted living facility. It is a different environment, but I gained some experience while working there; these skills will help me in my future nursing endeavors, which will allow me to become a valuable asset to the medical
This last week was not the best. I might've bombed my Chemistry final; I studied for days from the book and practice exams. The test was nothing like I expected it to be, and now my hopes of getting into the nursing program are going down the drain. I still need to find out what I got, but I just feel defeated. I interviewed a Nurse Practitioner (NP) at a Rediclinic in Pennsylvania. It was a very friendly and professional environment. At the Rediclinic a medical assistance works as receptionist. NP has a private room for practice. It was packed, a guy was waiting for driver license physical examination, a young girl was waiting for a flu shot, and a lot more.
There is a high significance for a nursing student completing their degree in nursing to start their career as a nurse practitioner. While the training was demanding, I loved every minute of it. After receiving my license, I began work in a nursing home. While my job is far from easy, it gives me more reward that I could have in any other field. Working as a CNA only solidified my decision to become a primary care provider. After considering multiple health care career paths, I came across the physician assistant position.
I have amassed 1200 hours of patient care experience at my first CNA job at The Elms of Cranbury. My experience at the nursing home was challenging but rewarding at the same time.. My duties there included bathing, feeding, washing, transporting, dressing, toileting, changing and dressing patients. I also had to record the amount of food they ate, how much they voided and the size and consistency of their bowel movements. I had to report any abnormalities, complaints, or medical requests to the nurse.

In addition to the church, and society offers me the opportunity to pursue a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. The university's foundation and family-centered focus make it a great place for work-study. Although no one ever suggested that my journey to become a Registered Nurse would turn out to be a faith-based journey, I transitioned from Medical Assistant to Registered Nurse in 2017. I enrolled in an LPN program with only 12 weeks until graduation, but the school closed with no further information.
As I embark on my journey to become a registered nurse at the master's level, I anticipate significant changes in my role and responsibilities. As a registered nurse, I will transition from a student nurse to a fully licensed healthcare professional. This transition entails a shift from primarily observing and assisting in patient care to taking on a more independent and autonomous role in providing comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities. The standards for my new role as a registered nurse are established by professional nursing organizations, regulatory bodies, and healthcare institutions.
The personal care that I am able to give to a resident is rewarding. Knowing you have helped someone is a grand thing. As a registered nurse it appears that most of the time is spent charting medical records, dealing with way too many headaches, and passing medication. Sarah has worked in other medical settings prior to coming to a care facility and stated that so much burden and liability is placed on nurses especially in hospitals. Sarah’s positive attitude kept me inspired throughout my observations to continue my education in the medical field, although, I am now strongly considering different career
The first day I stepped onto the floor, I felt overwhelmed and I questioned myself if I was meant for this line of work. I was assigned 14 patients. I established important goals to remain on this path for success. It made me the person I am today. It is hard to just pick one memorable moment because it is the big and small daily happenings that make nursing such a rewarding profession. It is priceless profession.
As a nursing student, I have a grasp on what nursing is through textbooks and lectures. The more I learn about this profession, the more I learn about what my philosophy is. Although I haven’t gained clinical experience as a nurse, I have gained some clinical experience as a nurse assistant that helps me administer patient care while acquiring knowledge working under the supervision of nurses. This experience helps me to become knowledgeable on what their roles and responsibilities are, and it has inspired me that I hope when I graduate, to equal their skill, diligence and passion.
