In this week’s readings each reading covered several topics that were all written and worded differently, but similar. All the readings stood out to me and I found them to be important. The ties that bind the readings I suppose they all agreed in a way on the best way to learn morality and ethics. They also suggest that a constant search and desire for more understanding was the best way. The readings stated that applies to ethics asks us to pay attention, to be conscious and conscientious about standing within larger patterns of expectations “taking care” or to act (Weston p.5). In other words, we need to watch and act in every situation whether it is good or bad. Ethics can be challenging for anyone and it can be painful (Weston p.43). For example, I had a situation with a coworker lying to a resident about their husband 9the residents). This coworker told the resident that her husband was in the room next door sleeping but in truth he passed away years ago. Professor Okrusch gave a few explanations of what ethics is in the hand out of “A Few Ways to Think about Ethics.” One being “descriptive ethics which is sometimes called comparative ethics is a form of observing human behavior, values, which actions are right and wrong, and how the world is” (Okrusch).
