Before I talk about Johnny Cash and some of his life choices, I'm going to tell you all about how he was raised and lived. Johnny Cash, also known as J.R. Cash was born the 26th of February, 1932 in the town Kingsland, Arkansas. He was one of seven children born to his parents Ray and Carrie. When Cash was three his family moved to Dyess, Arkansas with the hopes to use the New Deal farming programs to their advantage. The next fifthteen years of Cash’s life was spent farming crops with his parents and siblings to help pay off debts. It was a hard life for the Cash family so they all ended up looking to music for an escape, mainly in the form of folk and hymn ballads. Cash still didn't let this affect him and in 2002 he released an album of song covers he did including some hits from the Beatles and the Nine Inch Nails. Sadly, in the middle of 2003 Cash lost his love, June Carter, to heart complications. This still couldn't stop the artist and in September, 2003, he began unknowingly writing the last song he’d ever work on. Alongside a co-writer named Rubin, Cash began recording American V: A Hundred Highways. He completed this track only a week before his death. One of the main good qualities I can see from learning about his life is that Cash seemed to have been very close to all of his family. He spent all of his childhood helping his siblings and parents pay off debt by working in the fields with them. They all also shared a strong love for music, which is almost never seen these days. This thought is also strengthened by the fact that his mom worked very hard to get Johnny lessons only for him to be told to never change his natural voice. All these things seemed to have helped Cash grow a very familiar and happy relationship with music and the making of music.
