How Healthcare Issues Could Affect My Future Career
There are many current Issues in healthcare that can and will affect my future career. This summer I plan to intern with Stryker. They are a company that sells a wide variety of medical equipment from the tools used to perform operations to the implants put into place during the operation. In this paper, we will discuss some of the top issues of the health industry and how exactly they may affect Stryker.

With the prescriptions given to patients causing deaths something may need to change. It may not be the fault of the people selling to distributors, but the distributes and doctors who lack communication. The consumers may be getting the same prescription from two different doctors and overdosing. They could even be buying the medication off the street. One thing drug representatives could do would be to educate distributers and consumers about the effects of the drugs and if used improperly what they could do. If it becomes more and more of an issue for certain kinds of medication to end up abused, distributers may stop carrying that brand of medication and look for something similar. I feel as this would be more important for people getting a complete knee replacement. There are many different types of replacements. Some doctors only do certain kinds but all kinds are different for different people. Having a doctor use an interactive model with a patient might help them get a better understanding of what they are getting and how it will affect them. I believe this will lead those skeptics to feel more assured before getting an operation. In-turn it will grow practices and help create a positive look for the company.
One issue that can affect both pharmaceutical and equipment sales would be price transparency. Right now, the manufacturer sees what the prices of a product are. As it travels to distributers and then companies, all the way to the consumer it loses more and more transparency at each stop. In the end, you could way overprice a drug people don’t know much about and get away with it. However, this does not benefit the consumer and it may be hurting your company as well because people cannot afford it. The same goes for equipment or implants. The only person who knows 100% the cost of that product is the
